Australasia's Leading Conference Centre
The Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre has been voted Australasia's Leading Conference Centre in the annual World Travel Awards for the second year in a row.
The award was presented after a voting campaign by 167,000 travel professionals worldwide and was announced last week at a gala ceremony at the Leela Palace Hotel in India's rapidly growing technological capital, Bangalore.
The Centre was chosen from among five finalists including centres in Auckland, Cairns, Melbourne and Wellington.
The Leading Conference Centre for Australasia category was one of more than 70 awards presented as part of the regional ceremony for Asia, Australasia and the Indian Ocean.
The annual World Travel Awards recognise the best organisations in international travel including hotels, resorts, airlines, conference venues, tour operators and tourism authorities.
Centre Chief Executive Ton van Amerongen said the Centre was pleased to win the award for two consecutive years, as it recognised the Centre's positioning at the forefront of international conference venues.
"This award provides an endorsement not only for the continuing program of innovations at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, but also for the dedication and professionalism of our team and the many people behind every successful event staged here."
In January, the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre was voted the best centre in Australia by readers of the leading international business events publication, CEI Asia Pacific.
