22nd MEA National Conference 2009
The planning for the 22nd MEA National Conference is well underway with the 2 conference organising committees ( Local Host and Program Committee ) working hard to present you with a very memorable event.
As you would have seen, this year MEA called for nomination of topics for the conference speaking program. We wanted to make sure that you got a say in what you would like to hear at your conference. Thank you to all of you who send in their topics of interest. The program committee will make sure that best topics are selected and presented at the conference. (The Call for Topics closed on the 3 September). The conference is going to be divided into 3 streams:
- Meeting and Event Organisers
- Venues
- Service Providers (This includes: Convention and Visitor Bureaus; AV and Staging/themeing Companies; Speaker and Entertainment, Merchandising and Promotion, Transport and Travel, Exhibition Companies)
This structure will ensure that all sectors of our membership are covered and all interests are catered for. The conference speaking program will include several plenary sessions, a number of concurrent sessions and workshops and offcourse a day of meetings and special interest groups. Every year we evaluate your feedback and try to improve our conference programs to align with your needs and interests. So stay tuned for more details on invited speakers and conference topics.
In our previous e-broadcast we listed the names of people on the conference program committee. We would like to take this opportunity to welcome a new member who is also going to chair this committee - Leanne Bennet from Holiday Inn, Adelaide. We are very pleased to have Leanne chair this committee and look forward to informing our members of inspiring conference speakers and topics that will feature in the conference.
In 2009 we are expecting over 600 people to attend MEA National Conference. Being the premier event in the Meetings & Events Industry, the conference offers a range of opportunities to showcase your products or services to our industry in Australia as well as New Zealand. The 2009 Sponsorship Document is available for your review from MEA website www.meetingsevents.com.au. If you would like to discuss any sponsorship ideas or if you would like to find out more about exhibiting at the conference, please contact Anna Tartakovskaia at MEA on 02 9929 5400 or via email anna@mea.org.au.
