MEA would like to congratulate the following, newly recognised Associate-Fellows of MEA.
Sharon Davis (nee Blank), Director of Flying Colours Events is an advocate for the application of advanced Events Management techniques. Since 1991, Sharon has worked in a both large and small festival and conference environments including Food and Beverage management, logistics and HR for The Falls Festival (Vic & Tas), bar management at Earthcore, management of the Justice Environments Conference, annual conferences for the Australasian Association of Campus Activities (for which she is Executive Officer) as well as launch events for The CIO Institute of Australia, Sublime Jewels and other. Sharon combines a corporate service ethic with the practical skills required to service 30,000 patrons in a temporary festival environment. Her advanced technical skills including operational logistics, HR and volunteer management, and database design and development enable her to deliver services such as online application / registration and bulk automatic email and SMS to delegates and staff. Sharon lectures in Events Management at Swinburne utilising her experience to impart a broad understanding of the context in which Events are delivered.
Monique Vannus. After completing a Bachelor of Hospitality Management from University of Western Sydney, Monique began her professional career at Tour Hosts, one of Australia's leading Professional Conference Organisers. Five years later, Monique heads up Tour Hosts' busy Accommodation Department where she is responsible for selecting and managing room blocks for thousands of international and national delegates each year. Critical to Monique's success is her belief in establishing key relationships with suppliers and clients on a national level and developing strong communication channels across the major hotel chains.
Associate-Fellow recognition, whilst not formal accreditation, indicates the member has proven dedication to the Industry and its Association and to ensuring their skills and industry knowledge remain current through on-going professional development.
