How long have you been an Accredited Meetings Manager? Since it first began in 1997.
How long have you worked in the Industry? Seventeen years.
Describe your current role: Jack of all trades! I work closely with all our clients and undertake a large part of the operations for each event, which I enjoy. I enjoy mentoring staff, and see them develop skills and knowledge. Of course, I am also responsible for the future direction of the business, and the challenge is to try and keep it small enough so we don't have to grow any bigger! (A nice challenge to have).
What do you enjoy most about your job? Working with a great team and our clients, many have become good friends over the years. Also, seeing all your ideas and hard work culminate in what they then call the 'best ever' conference.
What do you enjoy least about your job? GST!
What has been your proudest moment? For work - Winning MEA NSW Meeting of the Year for a conference that was going to be a 'little one', that I did not really want to do, that turned into a great event, great clients, and a great reward.
What has been your most embarrassing moment? Dealing with an overseas client, who I met only once - and then when I met him again on site (5 months later), I did not realise who he was! He is now a client we have worked with for years and still laugh about this (although I had wished it had never happened!)
What are you looking forward to in the future? Developing further relationships with clients and maintaining a good work /home-life balance to spend time with my kids.
