For the information of members, MEA is certainly entering exciting times as we bid farewell to the financial year 2006/07 and start reaping the benefits of our many organisational changes. Some of these changes include:
-
Over the past year we have seen MEA begin to position itself as a registered training organisation, looking to deliver articulated training programs that are also industry specific. It is pleasing to report our government audit is approaching
-
The rewrite of many of our professional development sessions to ensure relevancy and currency to industry standards
-
MEA’s on-going pursuit to engage industry in opportunities to network, gain business and learn from one another
-
The rigorous marketing of membership Australia-wide to ensure that our membership mix is balanced to the benefit of all
-
MEA’s support of BECA, the Business Events Council of Australia, to ensure that our members are heard through that one voice to government. Most recently, MEA’s financial support of a pre-budget submission to the Australian Government to increase its funding to the Business Events Industry
-
Our move to new and upgraded premises has improved MEA’s professional image greatly and contributed to our staff retention strategy
-
The Hobart Conference, managed by an in-house meetings manager worked well, with continuous improvement in place for years to follow. Evaluations of the educational program of a particularly high standard
-
Conference highlights and sessions being made available post conference via www.meetingsevents.com.au
-
The MEA blog being released allowing members to discuss on-line issues of concern
-
The MEA Awards moving to an on-line application and judging process receiving record numbers
-
Who’s Who the only industry bible being released in full-colour for the first time, and distributed to a wider audience
-
The provision of media exposure and recognition in Who’s Who to our proud Award winners
-
The move to on-line payments to ensure ease of payment for networking and PD events
-
The launch of Young MEA (YMEA) around the country, with phenomenal success in the early stages
-
A rise in the number of Accredited Meetings Managers and an on-going review of our processes to ensure our accreditation process maintains and grows in integrity
-
The provision of a Student Insight Series in a number of states, to promote to our young career hopefuls that our industry is the place to work in the future
