YMEA
YMEA is an initiative that was established to provide opportunities for Young MEA members (under 27 years of age – the Y Generation) either just starting out in their chosen career or for those wishing to take that next step to further develop themselves.
The YMEA charter is to foster personal and professional development in our young members and to grow our young member base.
YMEA nationally provides:
- Networking opportunities
- Professional and personal development opportunities
- Fun with like minded individuals
Y MEA will allow MEA to focus on the growth of its young industry professionals.

YMEA EVENTS IN REVIEW...
YMEA at Moreton Hire Brisbane (Queensland)
Experience is Everything – the motto delivered by the dynamic team at Moreton Hire who hosted the Young MEA professional’s event for April. YMEA’s charter is to focus on real issues and foster personal and professional development and the experienced Moreton Hire staff did just that, providing an overview of the Moreton Hire diverse operations, spanning from exhibitions, custom design, to the large scale project management of large sporting and corporate events, managed by the Major Project team.
The behind the scenes tour of the AV department to the creative design team – and yes even a warehouse tour, which took in the catering, linen, laundry, vinyl cleaning, furniture, exhibition build components, fabrication, signage and temporary structures facilities, provided an insight into event operations & logistics management.
The evening provided a wonderful networking opportunity to meet industry peers and exchange of information and ideas. There was an overwhelming response, that the evening had been very educational and an eye-opener for those who had not yet been exposed to such diversity and range within the event sector and that they learnt a great deal more about event management and the scope of the exhibition, event and meetings industry.
YMEA at Crystal Bar (New South Wales)
With over 70 YMEA’s in attendance, this event was a hit! Our under-27 year olds were welcomed with a drink on arrival at the stunning Crystal Bar located in GPO Sydney. Ann-Marie Moodie captured the attention of all, as she spoke about the Y-generation growing up in the wealthy times that they have always known…times which may not remain this way for long. Giving great advice on employment and opening the floor to numerous questions, Ann-Marie gave these young members a clearer perspective on themselves and how the Y generation is viewed by others.
Networking is also important for these YMEA’s as they establish their career in the industry and they were able to conclude the event with delicious canapés while developing new business contacts.
