Meetings & Events Industry Awards

So much has happened in the nine weeks since the official close of submissions for the 2006 Meetings & Events Industry Awards. A group of dedicated judges from around the country have reviewed a record number of submissions and produced detailed feedback reports; major decisions have been made to confirm the state and national award winners for the 2006 program; and each state of Australia has held Award celebrations, announcing their state finalists and winners.
With just enough time for a deep breath and a quick cup of tea, the dedicated Awards team at MEA have continued with the tasks required to ensure that the National Awards celebration, held during the MEA National Conference in Hobart, is an outstanding success – not only to the national finalists and winners, but to their work and industry colleagues present on the night. Of course, the night will be enjoyable for all conference delegates, regardless of Award status, with great Tasmanian food and beverage, as well as fantastic home grown entertainment.
All members have been sent the 2007 edition of Who’s Who, which contains a section dedicated to last year’s national award winners. This enhanced section, located at the front of the publication, includes a full colour photo and detailed award win information for each national award winner. The 2006 national award winners will receive the same exposure within the next edition of the Who’s Who (2008 edition), with the exception of the Platinum Award winner who will receive a full page dedicated to their win within this section (instead of on the publication’s front cover). The additional exposure our national award winners receive from the upgraded publicity within the valuable (and full colour!) Who’s Who publication will be a great benefit and well earned reward for their hard work and excellence. The Who’s Who exposure, along with professionally written press releases sent to industry and local press, dedicated award winner logo for use on company collateral, beautiful glass trophy and on-going promotion via the MEA website – are all ways in which the national winners benefit from entering the awards.
We wish all the national finalists the very best of luck for the national event on 3 April in Hobart.
MEA members will be able to access the category documents and instructions for on-line submission from 1 July 2007 on the MEA Awards website. In-the-meantime, if you have any questions about the Meetings & Events Industry Awards, please contact the MEA national office on (02) 9929 5400 or awards@mea.org.au.
