Congratulations - AFMEA
MEA would like to congratulate the following, newly recognised Associate-Fellows of MEA.
Cathryn Hendrickson, has worked with the Canberra Convention Bureau since 2004. In her role as Business Development Manager, she is responsible for achieving annual sales targets and establishing and maintaining long term sustainable business relationships with key customers. Prior to joining the Canberra Convention Bureau, Cathryn graduated from the University of Canberra with a Bachelor of Tourism Management. In her final year, Cathryn was awarded Tourism Student of the Year at the Rhodium Canberra and Capital Region Tourism Awards; she was awarded a Gold Leadership Award at the University of Canberra Blues and Leadership Awards and received the award for the Outstanding Contribution to the Tourism Industry and Education at the University of Canberra Tourism Program Awards. Cathryn is a committee member of the MEA ACT branch and is working on the professional development sub-committee.
Melinda Kibukamusoke (nee Routh) has been with the National Museum of Australia for over 6 years as Venue Coordinator, promoting the Museum as a commercial venue for hire, overseeing operational aspects of events at the Museum and managing the exclusive catering contract. Melinda also places an emphasis on fostering relationships with external contacts within the Meetings and Events industry. Prior to working at the Museum, Melinda worked at the National Gallery of Australia, in varied roles over a ten year period, that resulted in working in the Public Affairs Department as Events Coordinator, promoting the Gallery, it’s exhibitions and managing their events. Over the years this professional development has been coupled with an interest in the Fashion industry, by being involved in the production of fashion events both in Canberra, and interstate.
David McCarthy, is currently working as National Account Manager for the Melbourne Convention & Visitors Bureau. Prior to commencing at MCVB, David worked in the position of Sales Manager for Crown Towers and Crown Promenade Hotels. David has recently been awarded the AACB Staff Prize to attend the Future Leaders Forum at IMEX- Frankfurt in April.
Fiona Parr, joined Coastal Productions in May 2003 with experience in the hotel industry, both locally and overseas and a keen interest in events stemming from voluntary event work and event management subjects at university. A degree in Business has helped her achieve a strong organisational base in the company. She enjoys the variety the events industry offers as no event is the same and gains immense satisfaction from seeing an event through from concept to completion. As well as being on two industry-related committees she also tries to keep her 3 male bosses in line!
