MEA would like to congratulate the following, newly recognised Associate-Fellows of MEA.
Trevor Connell. During the 80s and 90s, Trevor was involved in the events industry as a technician, technical director, lighting designer and event manager. In 2000, he established specialevents.com.au as an online magazine and resource for the event industry, then in 2001established EventPix which has become Australia's leading event photography company via a network of specialist photographers across the country. To celebrate his 10th MEA conference Trevor decided it was time to seek recognition.
Carla Ponder established her company, Australian Conference Venues & Destinations, with partner Carl Hanlon in 1994 after 2 years with the Radisson President (now Carlton Crest) Hotel in Melbourne. Prior to that, her background was in sales & marketing in the media and advertising industry. Initially a venue finding service, ACV&D evolved into full conference management in 1997. In 2000 after relocating to the Gold Coast Destination Management in 2004. In September 2006, Carla merged Gold Coast DMC with Brisbane based PCO Eventcorp further broadening both companies' capabilities. Carla has been a keen contributor to the Meetings & Events Industry over the past 15 years, serving two terms on MEA Queensland board and undertaking the role of Program Chair for MEA National Conference - Gold Coast 2006.
Louise Romero is Senior Producer at Directions (Directions amalgamated with Hancock Events in 2007). Louise has a B.A. degree in design and a Diploma in Marketing, and began her career in the film industry before moving into events, where she now has over eight years of event production and account management experience behind her. From corporate conferences to road shows, festivals, exhibitions, product launches and promotions, and account management, Louise's capabilities are endless.
